Design and Energy Performance Analysis of a Hotel Building in a Hot and Dry Climate: A Case Study

In times of unprecedented climate change and energy scarcity, the design delivery energy-efficient sustainable buildings are utmost importance. This study aimed to a hotel building for hot dry conditions perform its performance analysis using simulation tools. The model was constructed by graphical tool OpenStudio EnergyPlus following ASHRAE Standard 90.1. To reduce demand hotel, parametric conducted envelope parameters such as thickness insulation layer in exterior wall roof, thermal conductivity layer, rate infiltration, U-factor windows, resistance air gap interior walls (R-value), window-to-wall ratio, orientation were tested impact on use analyzed. It found that most assumptions based standard already optimal considered locality, however, still optimized further reach highest efficiency level. Apart from this, three technologies—thermochromic phase materials, solar panels—were incorporated into their consumption reduction potential estimated simulations. Cumulatively, these technologies able total 2417 GJ 1593 (i.e., 824 or 34%).
